2026 Toyota Prius PHEV Nightshade: Still plugged-in, but more elegant
September 10 2025,
Toyota adds a little spice to its 2026 Prius PHEV family with a special edition of a very assertive character: the Nightshade. Positioned above the XSE variant from which it inherits its equipment, this new offering adds audacity and sophistication to the already very successful silhouette of the plug-in Prius, now available at Toyota Gatineau.
An even more eye-catching style
The Nightshade edition is immediately recognizable by its exclusive aesthetic treatment. Toyota applies its "Nightshade" signature by dressing the car in a series of black accents that create a significant contrast, adding a more aggressive look to the model in the process. This includes black "Prius Plug-in Hybrid" emblems and logos, door handles, lower bumper sections, and blackened door sills.
The model sits on 19-inch alloy wheels that also feature black, to add to the model's unique and sporty style. Only two body colors are offered for this model: Wind Chill Pearl and Midnight Black Metallic, for an elegant and radical effect.
The story continues on board
The interior follows the same logic with specific black Softex fabric upholstery, all enhanced with gray stitching, which adds to the modern and technological atmosphere of the Prius PHEV. The cabin retains all the equipment of the XSE variant, such as heated front seats, a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, a glass roof, and the Toyota multimedia system which, with this model, benefits from a large 12.3-inch touchscreen. Connectivity is also wireless with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto applications.
Power and efficiency are on the menu
Under the hood, the 2026 Nightshade variant benefits from the same high-performance mechanics as the Prius PHEV. It is powered by a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine and electric motors for a total output of 220 horsepower. It offers an all-electric range of up to 72 km, perfect for daily commutes between Gatineau and Ottawa, as well as remarkable fuel efficiency of 4.5 liters per 100 km in hybrid mode. The car can be recharged on a level 2 outlet in about 4 hours.
